FINAL PIECE OF BUNKER JIGSAW

It was windy and rainy this morning (Saturday) and with Billy McKeag being made of sugar I didn’t get to play any golf. Just had coffee and sandwiches in the lounge with the fourball in front who didn’t go out either. But, I managed to persuade Billy to carry my umbrella so we could show you how the new work to the 1st and 11th is shaping up. COURSE REDEVELOPMENT

Donaghadee Golf Club, four years ago, embarked on an ambitious project to redevelop its course by employing the services of the well renowned course architect Howard Swann. In conjunction with our then newly appointed course manager Aaron Small, Howard designed a plan to redevelop the bunkers on all 18 holes as well as designing a 9 hole short course and practice academy. CHANGE TO VALENTINE WEEKEND ENTERTAINMENT

With our 60s’ night postponed until the Spring Ball (31 March) the entertainment on Friday 10th February will be provided by Bill McIlveen. There is a cover charge of only £1. Remember that to make your evening complete you can book a meal with the caterer.

LOCKERS FOR SALE

The ladies locker room is undergoing refurbishment and the old lockers are up for sale. They come in units of three and will cost £15 for each 3-piece unit. The ladies have been asked to have the lockers cleared by 31st January. If you are not interested personally you may know some club or organisation who would be. If you have an interest please contact the office as soon as you can.

Under Clause 23 of the CONGU Unified Handicapping System it is necessary to carry out an Annual Review . This is a process by which the Match & Handicap Committee reviews, and adjusts as necessary, the handicaps of all members to ensure that as far as practical, they reflect current playing ability. A computer generated report has been designed to assist the Committee and other factors eg scores in society and non-qualifying competitions are taken into consideration. Click for more...

We are considering moving the hosting of our website to our club IT Management Company. It may be that this could take place next week. During that time it is possible that our website will not be available for a few days. WINTER HANDICAPS – MENS BRANCH

Remember that handicaps will continue to be revised over the winter months. All golfers, whether taking part in the Winter League or not, will be cut in competition golf when they score more than 21 points.
